What is burnouts, how to aviod it and maintain a good work life balance and give yourself proper self care


Hello there, as an entrepreneur, business owner, start up founder, freelancer or white collar job employee you often feel discomforted and stressed in your work, this is what is referred to as burnouts, and it badly affects your working performance. Burnouts leads to work irritation, frequent illness and mental stress. So, in this article I would share with you the meaning of burnouts, it's symptoms, preventions and how to give yourself the proper self care and work life balance for your own benefit.

   Firstly, what is burnouts

What is burnouts?


Burnouts is a state or situation in which an enterprneuer, business owner or employee is exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally, this is largely due to the events faced from work stress and persistent demands mostly (from superiors) in running the company, leading to decrease in productivity and poor decision-makinng for enterprenuers, all of which nagatively impact the health and the business itself, and this will gradually decrease the workers esteem and motivation to keep on working 

      According to a study's by Endeavor, 75% of entrepreneurs feel immense pressure to meet others’ expectations, while 54% admit that discussing mental health feels taboo. With these in mind enterprenuers you will be prolonging the cause of burnouts in yourself, all of which will be leading to rapid decline in your productive performance. 

Burnouts have caused many enterprenuers to die and get really bad mental illness, A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) found that; 

      "Approximately 1 in 5 adults worldwide (22%) experience a mental health issue each year." 

This only shows how mental illness affects people worldwide. So, with your current condition and my concern for you I will be sharing with you the symptoms (signs) of burnouts and how to eradicate them, this would make you feel more happy and better, as a research from the Oxford University shows that 13% of happy employees are more productive than others, so let's continue. And happiness will eventually reduce mental illness or stress. So give a big smile! Moving on

WHAT ARE THE SYPTOMS OF BURNOUTS?


  There are several ways you can identify that you are experiencing burnouts, mine is mostly been tired even without doing anything, it's not a sickness, it's only the thoughts about work that stress's me mentally. And that my be your case too, so here are the signs and symptoms you would have when experiencing burnouts. and they can either be physically, emotionally and behavioral symptoms. 

1. PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS: Burnouts  can manifest physically, causing significant discomfort. For instance, worrying about family responsibilities can lead to distraction, headaches, and increased susceptibility to illness. Physical symptoms may include:

- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Stomachaches or intestinal issues
- Frequent illness
- Changes in appetite and sleep patterns

2. EMOTIONAL BURNOUTS: Burnout can also have profound emotional effects. Key indicators include:

- Feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness
- Trapped or stuck in a situation
- Lack of motivation and interest
- Feelings of isolation, loneliness, and defeat
- Increased self-doubt and fear of failure

3. BEHAVIOURAL SYPTOMS: Here are among the many signs of behavioural burnouts, that you might have possibly felt or experienced in work or at home;

(i) You feel you aren't doing as much as you used to.
(ii) You are segregating and withdrawing yourself from your colleagues, peers and society. 
(iii) Procrastination: You are always shifting a scheduled event or task to a future date or time mostly becuase of tiredness or mood swing.
(iiii) You miss work.
(v) You are finding it difficulty concentrating or completing tasks
(vi) You've lost interest in social activities & irritability
(vii) Yoy get mood swings
(viii) You are lacking impulsively & Lacking enthusiasm for work

HOW I MANAGE STRESS & OVERCOME BURNOUTS


From my own life, I will share with you how I manage the pressure I give to my self and the kind of performance my superiors require's, so here are the best ways to overcome burnouts!

1. Take breaks: Working too much wouldn't help, you yourself know it, I mean the most paid and most acknowledge worker's in the company you work for, doesn't put enough time and effort you put in, but yet he's paid more than you. That because he's using his intellect and trying to work to avoid burnouts, so in the time you are tired he's working well and resting when needed. So this is what I will do to take breaks, I'll rest on the desk for something minutes or you know eat during coffee breaks. Resting will help to regenerate your energy and it will boost your productivity and reduce burnouts.

    This isn't all made up, Science has shown that employees and employers are more productive and healthier when taking real breaks For example, one study showed that employees slept better and were in a better mood after vacations—and the positive effects lasted over a month after returning to work. This only shows the importance of resting and taking breaks, And the preceding strategies;

2. Journalising: Yes, taking time to write down your taughts really heaps reduce anxiety which is a major cause of burnouts, I mean when you write, you pen your thoughts down and meditate on the rest of your taughts without distractions. I specifically feel alot better writing what I've read after studying a projects documents or some textbook. Becuase, it actually helps me think straight. So, the next time you are reading your project assignments in your work place, try to pen out some keywords for your presentation, and i assure you your excellence abd stress free. And also journalize your entire activity of the week, to keep you scheduled and time managed through out the week. 

3. Seek Professional help: Although I don't do this, I will still recommend it, enterprenuers have limited time to even visit the hospital or a therapist, but you should take a break and visit a therapist. Taking would actually help you open your thoughts to the therapist and me you feel relieved. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology found that 75% of patients who received talk therapy experienced significant improvements in their symptoms and functioning. Now that you've been able to understand the meaning, causes and how to overcome burnouts, let's work you through how to recover.

HOW TO RECOVER FROM BURNOUTS


 1. Promote Self-care & Work life balance: I am constantly developing the habit of self care and you should too, the benefit is people no longer disturb me at work, that's because I priotise myself, I say no to any irrelevant request, that would only benify the other party. But forget about just saying no, taking time to care for our physical body, doing workouts and using that new skincare products will help you take your mind off work stress. In essence, take a vacation spend leisurely but wisely and promote your good health. Taking care of yourself plays a important role in preventing and reducing burnouts. Sometimes we're not able to change our environment, but simply make few positive habits that will go a long way in healing burnout symptoms in us. So, here are some activities that can help give your mind a rest:

(I). Engaging in self-care activities like exercise, relaxation techniques, or hobbies can help replenish depleted energy levels, allowing you to better handle work pressures. 

(ii) Stress management: Self-care practices like mindfulness or deep breathing can help manage stress effectively, preventing it from accumulating and causing burnout. 

(iii) Improved mental well-being: Prioritizing self-care promotes a positive mental state, enhancing your ability to cope with challenges and maintain a healthy perspective. 
From it all avoiding burnouts is crucial for maintaining your working status, and business position of your company as a manager, CEO or enterprenuer and managing your performance as an employee. And please take care of yourself, for yourself and for the people depending on you. And remember your Child is counting on thier parent, and your parents on thier child. Take some rest, good night!
